Autism is a lifelong developmental disability. It is a neurological disorder, which presents itself in a variety of symptoms that affect individuals differently. Autism knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries.
People with autism typically have difficulties with communication, sensory input, and appropriate behaviors, as well as deficits in social understanding. More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than AIDS, Diabetes and Cancer combined. There is no medical detection for autism. Those who cannot be “cured” must find productive places for themselves in society.
Five years ago, A Place For All Pieces was founded with the hope of helping autistic individuals and their families. With the assistance of our generous supporters, we have been able to create events that provide autistic individuals with opportunities to develop basic social skills and friendships. Together, we are building a support network which nurtures a positive self-image of autism, while embracing the unique challenges of this lifelong developmental disability.
We are asking for your support. Your generosity will make a difference in our community. All donations are tax deductible, as A Place For All Pieces is a California Nonprofit Corporation with IRS 501(c)3 status.
